Drawing Questionnaire (picture)

Drawing Questionnaire

"The point is, that every piece of art changes your whole perception of the rest of the world for the rest of your life. And it's not a joke! And if it doesn't, then it's not art, it's a commodity."

I'm not sure if totally agree with this quote.  Art should be something that has a lasting effect on you no matter what, I defiantly agree with that.  However, many things can have this effect it just matters what context they are taken in.  For example a urinal is not much of an art piece, it is a rather normal commodity.  For half of the population it's just a part of everyday life, but Duchamp changed that.  By taking a urinal out of context he made something that would normally have very little effect on most people into something that shook the art world. He proved that something can become art just because someone says it is. So in a way I feel that this quote is correct, however the line between art and commodity is a thin one.
